As usual, no problem with the questions at all, and we'll always try to answer what we're able.

Long story short... I was contacted by an independent Italian publisher (or more specifically a group that wanted to start a publishing company over there) who wanted one of their first titles to be a translation of "Vintage Games". Naturally that kind of stuff is handled by our publisher, Focal Press/Elsevier, so I deferred the gentlemen to them. Our publisher put us all in touch with their Worldwide rights rep, who I believe is in Germany. There was some back and forth between the three parties and we came to an agreement that they would translate a few sample chapters (ultimately the Web chapters) to see if they could get market interest. That has progressed slowly to the point where apparently they're ready to debut what they have at that Italian games show, where, I assume, we'll get a decision whether it will be picked up or not.

I don't remember exactly. It's definitely different from the initial contract, but it's built into that contract. I seem to recall us getting some type of lump sum and then a certain percentage thereafter. It's probably minimal all things told as most things are with these types of books.

It will be the same number of chapters in the present book, same layout, just in Italian. They'll also add commentary to each of the chapters to give an Italian perspective. So our original work will be intact, but there will be bonus content to add even more value for the Italian audience. Very cool actually. I hope we get a few copies stateside even though I can't read Italian (my parents were never taught, so they never taught me).
