Halo 3 Legendary Edition - Feelie Envy...

Well, my Halo 3 Legendary Edition came today from Amazon.com, which I pre-ordered all the way back in May. What awaited me when I got home from work was one honking huge box...

Really, I didn't expect this to be quite so big. After opening the large shipping box to get to the contents, I couldn't believe what was inside--a large rectangular box suitable for retail display (with a stern, but small sticker mentioning the street date). After taking the black outer slipcover off - which has a type of Master Chief cardboard poster on the interior - I was treated to the real box, which is printed with the visuals you see in the photo below, under the actual helmet. As for the helmet, I knew there was going to be a plastic helmet thingy inside that was supposed to cover the two DVD cases (a la a storage case), but I didn't realize that after removing its shroud it was going to be about 75% life-size! (And no, you or anyone else can't wear it, as it has a thin slot in the interior to go on the pictured stand). This has got to be one of the largest feelies ever, most certainly NOT suitable for my family room entertainment center. Of course to go along with being one of the largest feelies ever, comes the price - retailing for $129.99 - that makes even a modern day acquisition of Infocom's classic Suspended mask box blush...

Hopefully I'll be able to get a chance to take the game for a proper spin in the next day or two (I set up my new Wii yesterday and have spent enough time with that for now...). As you already know, Halo 3 broke every type of record and has gotten glowing reviews, blah blah blah, so no reason for me to rehash any of that...

Halo 3 Report

I finished the solo Campaign (Heroic setting) in just under a week. The ending was certainly 10 times better than that of Halo 2. Have any of you that have the game finished it yet?

A group of 4 of us are playing the Campaign in Co-op Legendary mode. Pretty tough, but manageable with 4 of us. Bungie did it right, again,

Can't wait for Halo Wars to come out. The developers at Bungie say they're working on another Halo title, but not set in the same universe as the previous 3.

Cheers

Normal for me

I'm playing in Normal to start since I'm not especially skilled. Once I finish it, I'll try to hop online and play with other people.

Update

Myself and 2 others just finished the Co-op Campaign in Legendary. Not as hard as I thought it would be, but I guess we must be getting better at it since we've completed the game in the other difficulty settings as well. There is a surprise cut scene at the end of the credits and beyond the first one. Very interesting! We were so afraid one of us would hit the "back" button on the controllers that we made a deal that once the credits started rolling the controllers were placed at least 6 feet away from us!!

Cheers
