Why in one week? We have to change platforms ahead of time because we’ve grown very tired of our site repeatedly displaying hacked political statements. The continued hacks cannot be properly avoided if we continue to use the current e107 software or update to version 1.7, so we decided to make the transition as soon as possible. So by May 16th the AA website will look very different. The new Drupal-based site is not completely finished and needs to be seen as ‘a work in progress’, but we feel the continued defacing of our site makes this early transition necessary.
What does this mean for you guys? I am very sorry to say that everybody will loose their account at AA because we have no means of transferring your old account to the new system. In order to preserve at least a shimmer of what we have here, we will freeze the old site with the forums as a static ‘AA Classic’- part of the new and improved AA that we are working very hard on. The new Drupal platform offers forum-functionality too and we hope you’ll bear with us and re-register on the new site. We are very sorry we need to take such drastic actions but we see no other way, as our new work is in danger of being destroyed aswell.
So no delays, time to say your goodbyes. And don't be sad. The new and improved AA will rise like a phoenix From the Flames!
CTRL-ALT-DEL, see y’all on the other side!!!!

Hacks at the old site
Wow, looks like you guys have had some issues at the old site. I've been so busy at work and with the family that I haven't logged on to AA in months, until now. New site looks great and I've only had a chance to check out some of the blogs so far.
Hacked
I might add that I made a very choice deletions and set more restrictions for e107. I browsed the forums a bit at the e107 homepage and made a few cuts. Still, I think what Cecil did was really key in preventing the hacks. For all I know, they have gone in and tried to change the index.html files again, but Cecil's technique makes that irrelevant. Good work, Cecil!
Cecil, Don't think the site
Cecil,
Don't think the site has been hacked since....
Cheers, Mark
question...
Has the site been hacked again since I rerouted / to index.php?

More (not so deep) thoughts
I actually didn't notice the new AA font until you pointed it out.
The jaggy font is a bit too hard to read, but I know the feel you're going for.
Since I am busy with podcasting/reviewing deadlines for Played to Death tonight, I'm going to do a mock-up of some alternative font choices tomorrow morning before work.

Designing Ideas
Thanks, Mat. I really liked the way that chrome text came out, so I went ahead and put it up to see if anyone would notice. It reminds me of the old Boulder Dash games. I'm working very hard on redesigning the look of the site--basically teaching myself photoshop, so things are going painfully slow. I think I'm finally getting the hang of the whole layers thing.
I got a lot of ideas from this website. I'd really like to do a super cool interface for the site that would really make a sharp impression. I'm still working on the top bar (got to ditch that stupid blue and swap it for a pattern with some rad buttons).
I'm also thinking of putting everything in sci-fi looking boxes, possibly using a few of these tutorials. I like the idea of having this wire integrated somewhere.
I really like how things
I really like how things look so far...
I totally agree with the AA reboot, Mark. It's too bad the old AA site can be hacked so easily, but it will be for the better in a way-- it forces us to start the soft launch (and do more updates).
Great job on what we've done so far and here's to the future!
Cheers!

Looks Good to Me
Looks great to me, Mark! Great work. However, I'd really like to wait until we hear from some other folks (Cecil, Bill, or Mat) before making the step.
Meanwhile, I'm playing with the CSS, so if you see something weird please just bear with it.
is this suitable for posting on the other side?
Guys is this suitable for posting on the other side? Do we agree on moving over to Drupal early on may 16th?
