Space Aliens: Geek Haven in St. CloudHi, guys. I've been talking to a reporter from the St. Cloud Times about Woot, and he decided that we should do a photo shoot at a local restaurant named Space Aliens. This is a very cool establishment; pretty much a must-see for true geeks, sci-fi fans, and, above all, gamers. Although it seems to be focused mostly on kids, there is stuff here for adults, including a bar made up to look like the Cantina Bar from Star Wars--and there are those touch-screen arcade games to keep you entertained while you wait for ribs. Overall, it's a nice place, and I wanted to post about it so you can see what you're missing! (As of yet, there are only 8 locations.) Needless to say, I prefer this place to Chuck E. Cheese, though Gameworks is a very solid competitor (they have one of those in Minneapolis, but it's at least an hour and half drive there).
I've eaten at Space Aliens about three times since I've been here; not because of lack of interest, but rather lack of friends willing to be seen there. :) Nevertheless, the menu is good with lots of options. I especially like the fries and the choice of three different dipping sauces. My only complaint is that I wish the wait staff was a bit geekier; the one at St. Cloud seems to prefer looks to lore. On the plus side, the service has always been good, and you can even buy the BBQ and wing sauce to take home in a bottle if you so desire.
I saw one dude here was from Minnesota; any chance that you ever go to Space Aliens?

We have one here, its one of the "hot spots" locally for food and fun for families. its been here for 5-8 or so years and its held up pretty well for keeping busy. We normaly get new places, they birng in alot fo people then after a year or two die out or slow down. Space Aliens seems to always be busy, so much we seldom go there as its to busy for my tastes. I will admit its been maybe 3 years since I was in it. At that timeit had a fair arcade (all new games at the time) and enough "geek" style to make it worth a visit. Food was good.. but im a cheapy so I thought it was to much for what it was. I'm not a person who likes $20+ per person meals so my judgement is slanted. I would say its a fun visit. The one thing I keep thinking about it is its longivty here in our food market, to this day on sat or sunday the parking lot is always full, and for a food place here that is saying something so there must be somthing good about it.
It is a area franchise, created localy (Bismark ND I think (very well could be wrong) was the first orginal one). I do know they where looking at taking it nation wide, but that was several years ago. I think there are 7 or 8 in the tri state area here. it does have a website with some game and pictures of the place and such.

Looks cool!
The closest we have to this in my area is Broadway Louie's, a sports/karaoke/arcade bar which caters to an adult clientele. There used to be a Nascar simulator (not arcade game) there, and it has arcade games covering the surrounding walls of both the lower and upper decks, including games I've never seen anywhere else.
It's certainly not as "geektastic" as Space Aliens, though, but I've had fun there. Typical bar menu, but the food was good, and the atmosphere was casual.
I suspect this style of adult arcade/nightlife will become more and more trendy as the "gamer" generation booms.
P.S. "Froggy Bottomz" (as seen in the "Broadway Louie's" link) is also a fun time, although not game-related. My town = party town.

No, I haven't even heard of it before. I hope they'll keep coming out with stuff like this, though.

That's the only type of establishment like that that I've been to.
