Three for the Road: 03.27.2011

Greetings folks! Welcome to the April 17th, 2011 edition of Three for the Road. This week we take a look at a few more indie PC gems that are sure to entertain you for a while. This edition also marks the first time I am posting the games with GigaTribe download links in addition to the standard web-based download links. For years I've been trying to find a file sharing (P2P) package that I liked and GigaTribe comes closest to what I've been looking for.

Ultimately, I'm thinking of getting a P2P network established for fans of indie/classic gaming. So if you'd like to join, send an invite (from GigaTribe) to Mythran42 and we'll see if we can turn this grass roots effort into something larger. :-)

Note: The GigaTribe links download straight from my laptop PC.. so whether it's online or not will dictate the availability of the files.

Meikyu is a fun oldschool platformer for the PC. This game is the recent creation of E. Hashimoto who's also responsible for Guardian of Paradise and Akuji the Demon. You must invade the hydra's castle and do battle with his evil minions, all to find the hidden crown. Along the way you will acquire items and new weapons. All in all, this is a great little Castlevaniaesque style platformer that's more than worthy of a play through.

Blendimals is a very quirky puzzle-platformer title from Exploding Cow. The goal is to combine a number of animals (via a blender) into a "frankenbeast" that has the abilities that are required to complete the levels. Overall the game reminded me a bit of The Lost Vikings... Loads er.. blenderfuls of fun!

Tottenham is a game where you play the part of a demolitions expert who must clear a path between two subway stations in order to construct a connecting line between them.

Move with the arrow keys, space will fire a charge.. but watch out for flying debris or you might just have a short career.

Blendimals! Wow! That sounds

Blendimals! Wow! That sounds like something our friends Paul Reiche and Fred Ford would come up with.
