Number 8Do you have ideas for Armchair Arcade's new logo? Do you know someone who would like to design a logo for us to look at? What follows are some very rough ideas of our own. It would be great if we could all work together to see what we like and dislike about various concepts and ideas. As we get closer to issue 8 and our first print issue, it's important we finalize a really clever logo design. The only requirement is that like the current placeholder logo, it has "Armchair" on top and "Arcade" on the bottom, and we're allowed to use it for any purpose without restriction. Bonus points for "Videogames and Computers" under the logo. Of course it needs to be a high resolution original file, preferably vector, or something we could recreate ourselves if it's not. Bonus points from me if it can somehow relay that we're about both Videogames AND Computers, and bonus, bonus points tying together classic, modern and future. If videogame-like characters could somehow interact with the Logo, even better, though they'd have to be original for us to use them. While we can't give anything away at this time, we'll give full credit for full usage rights and maybe something like a signed copy of our first print issue. Thanks!

So, let's hear comments about these logos, your own ideas, or link to your own submissions. We'll start to pare them down and continue this discussion with a new round and additional choices, sort of like a logo "survivor". Thanks for the help and be sure to participate!

Mike Gupta submission
As Bill pointed out, it is "Videogames and Computers," so that can be changed on the final file. I didn't want to clog up the server with more .jpg's.
Mike Gupta and Dragon57:
Mike Gupta and Dragon57: Please provide the links to your two "final" entries for the white and black backgrounds. I'll take that and stick it with #8 for round 2. When you guys have time...
Also, branding aside, if anyone has any clever ideas to use the other finalist logos in some other ways, that would be great, as I really like all of them. Obviously there can be only one, but "Armchair Arcade" is nevertheless "Armchair Arcade".

Write In Votes
What do you mean about write in votes? I never saw an actual poll listed anywhere. I saw where you collected some of the picks but never saw the first round totals. Which ones will be available for "round 2"? Sorry about all the questions, I'm just crazy that way. Cheers
I can throw Number 8 up
I can throw Number 8 up there along with Mike's and Dragon's for round 2 tomorrow, but I really wish there weren't these last minute "write-in" votes! Still, we very much appreciate the feedback and thoughts on the final decision. We do want to get it right. In any case, I like Number 8 too, but was afraid it was too busy when I did it.

Number 8
No. 8 was my second choice so let's put it up there and make it so!!
Hey, a question: Why do the images show up as forum topics???
no 8 has a more international taste to it.
Design no 8 has a more international taste to it.
It's clean and a lot simpler in design than the others.
I say let's go for that one. It'll fit in with the black background aswell...

I guess sometimes the
I guess sometimes the reference to the PCB board doesn't even matter. Look at the BMW logo: most people don't realize it's supposed to be an airplane propeller and the sky (The origins of BMW is a maker of military aircraft engines). Regardless, it hasn't really stopped the success of their brand.
Joe Blow...
If Joe Blow's going out of his way to check out "Armchair Arcade" in the first place, he might have an idea... at the very least he'll understand the logo as "computery looking"...
The only concern I have with
The only concern I have with number 8 is that: Is Joe Blow from Small Town, USA going to realize that it is a PCB board? Do they even know what a PCB board is? While it is a very good concept, I'm afraid the execution may come across as "That big green text with stuff in it."
Again, I do like number 8, but hope the reference will not get lost on the average Joe. We of course are trying to market it to a conventional audience...
