Mr. Agustin Cordes of Argentina is back this week to tell us about his Asylum kickstarter. In brief, he's trying to raise $100,666 to fund the last bit of development for what looks like an awesome "node-based" 3D graphical adventure. Unlike (ahem) other Kickstarters, he's got a working prototype (the "Interactive Teaser"). Josh Mandel is voicing the main character--and doing a fantastic job, of course. You might remember my interviews with him back in October of 2011. Anyway, enjoy the vid, and please pledge to Agustin's kickstarter quickly if you want that gorgeous boxed copy.

You probably noticed that I added an animated background noise to this one. What do you think? Effective? Distracting?
As i said before these effects are not import is waste of time spend in engine, graphics.. content is importable (for worlds, thoughts).
Too important things, im very curios how he manage Kickstarter from Argentina, because as far i know, supported is only USA + UK. Because otherwise we will like barbaric hordes invade, as Attila the scourge of god to Europe.. and crush kickstarter too, because we know what is best in life..
I know, thre is every time some grey zone possiblities, how to make it found some mediator, representative.. but it is dangerous, let people send lots of money to man which you never met.. and believe that he will no deceived you.

For my personal tastes, I think the color/hue is too distracting (red/pink is too overpowering). Something more muted and subtle/washed out is my particular preference, or something black, maybe with the AA/Matt Chat branding. With that said, I think it at least proves that it works.
Not sure, don't think it is distracting and it can sever to set a specific mood. Just experiment with it I say. And if you like it by all means do some more ;)
Hm. I'd have to put some thought into some kind of "matt chat" branding. You're thinking just a static background with some kind of bars or something?

Yeah, literally inverted bars in the 4:3 borders. Something not too in your face. If it were animated in any way, it would have to be extremely subtle since again, the focus is always on the stuff going on inside, not the border. It's just that you have the blank space otherwise and may as well make use of it.
Ads! :) you might work something out with somebody like GOG.. different game ad every two weeks or something? If its just borders and you could get somebody for some fee you and them feel is ok.. why not.. Of course then there is the whole .. sombody who worked on old school game XX and getting canned having game XX advertised.. Of course thats pretty small real estate to work any kind of anything ad wise in. and since you use Youtube.. there is a whole other issue i guess.
I must admit if you do borders. subtle is key I know I haven't watched it.. but the static pic is overwhelming with the pink to me..
The first, when you blew his mind with the rats request. He was baffled but easygoing about it.
The second, a Real Ghostbusters quote is always going to get a thumbs up from me.
Regarding the background noise, I like the concept but not this particular coloring. Too hot, too pink, too what have you.
Best,
Shane
For my next attempt I'll do something a lot more subtle. Maybe go with blacks and dark blues or some such so if you're bored, you can look at it, but not something that's going to distract.
Another idea I had was just to run some gameplay footage of relevant games back there, perhaps faded out where you could just sorta make it out (again the goal being to provide some visual interest without overpowering the focus).
I myself was going to suggest dark blue and black colour scheme, possibly add some dark purples in there as well. I do also like the idea of some game footage, It'd be neat to see this upcoming Tom Hall interview with some Commander Keen gameplay around the screen.
