The British Board of Film Classification has conducted a study to gain more insight into the psychological effects of playing video games. The organization states that most gamers suffer more ill effects from TV violence than from video games. Click the following link for the full report:
The South Korean mrs Kim Hee-Jung is currently drafting a law that should protect the South Korean youth from spending too much time playing online games. If the bill is passed, parents will be able to easily set a time-limit on the games their children play. Software developers will have to implement this capability in the games they create and will run the risk of having to pay huge fines if they don't. Mrs Kim Hee-Jung will present her bill to the South Korean parliament next month.
Contrary to first rumours about the HD-DVD system not getting region codes, the system will get them anyway. The official term for this coding system, prohibiting playback in areas that aren’t allowed to, is ‘Region Protection Coding’. A very positive term for something that will eventually lead to Europeans paying more for lesser-quality-releases that will come out months later. At least this was the case with the older DVD-standard.
