August 1st 2006 EA is dropping support of no less than 11 sportsgames

If you have invested into EA sports titles, challenge this:
starting August 1st, EA will drop online functionality on 11 games according to ArsTechnica. The list consists mainly of sportsgames like NBA Live 2005, NHL 2005 and FIFA Soccer 2005 – most of these titles are about 20 months old. But also games not even a year old have their internet functionality flushed down the drain – Total Club Manager’06 being a fine example of that. The decision affects pc, xbox and ps2 titles. EA makes an exception for the PS2 version of Need for Speed Underground 2, but PC and Xbox owners are left out in the cold.

PSP with firmware v2.71 does play homebrew

PSPPSPEr... well sort of anyways. The Flash player that is contained in the latest firmware is compatible with two of our flash games on the site: Pac Man and Tetris. They are executed very slowly but are somewhat playable. Any of you PSP-owners, give it a try. So it is possible to get something homebrew running op on the PSP. Just create a webpage with a compatible flash file and the PSP will play that. There's a c64 emulator out there for flash9. The state of the PSP's flash support will not allow such things - but it does start me thinking.

South Korean politician wants to curtail online-gaming

The South Korean mrs Kim Hee-Jung is currently drafting a law that should protect the South Korean youth from spending too much time playing online games. If the bill is passed, parents will be able to easily set a time-limit on the games their children play. Software developers will have to implement this capability in the games they create and will run the risk of having to pay huge fines if they don't. Mrs Kim Hee-Jung will present her bill to the South Korean parliament next month.
