Welcome to the new Armchair Arcade!

Welcome to the new Armchair Arcade!

Welcome to the new Armchair Arcade!

October 22, 2014 Posted by Bill Loguidice Announcement 3 Comments

aa-icon-114It’s with great pleasure that I unveil the new Armchair Arcade. This is our third (and hopefully final) major site redesign since our inception in 2003. While the two previous incarnations of the Armchair Arcade Website still remain accessible (and a rough archive of the version prior to that), this site is where all new content will exclusively reside going forward.

Despite originally planning for a flashier Website, the whole point of Armchair Arcade was always to make the creation, development, and administration of new content easy for the team. Unfortunately, the previous sites never achieved that goal. After more than a decade, this new site finally does, but that has required keeping extraneous “flash” to a minimum. Of course, we do plan on adding features over time, but it will never again be at the expense of easily creating new content. Further, it will be far easier for our fans to create a new user account and comment on any of our content, making Armchair Arcade more interactive than ever.

This site represents a new era for Armchair Arcade and one that I’m proud to be a part of. Hopefully you feel the same. So once again, welcome, and be sure to subscribe to our updates via the email form on our Website, your RSS reader of choice, or the various social networks where we have a presence. As always, we’ll leave the light on for you.

Looks rather good, Bill. I have to say I wasn’t all that keen on v2 of AA after the old maroon original, but this looks a lot better.

Haven’t been around AA for some time but should be dropping in on a regular basis.

Congrats on everything that has been happening over here re the books, film etc.

    Davy.

Thanks, Davy. Unfortunately, v1 of AA, while probably looking the best for a variety of reasons, was the absolute worst to work with (using the e107 CMS). v2 turned out to be no picnic either (using Drupal). At least with this one (using WordPress–there’s a reason why most sites use it these days), since I did it all myself, I know how the darn things works and know how to fix something and/or add features when needed. It could still be better, but I’m happy with the much easier ability to create content and the fact that there will be far less administration.
