While I’ve liked the popular Boogie Board writing tablet series, there has always been room for some competition. The Geekerbuy Electronic Writing Tablet provides that competition with a generous 12 inch screen format at a great price.
I’m reviewing the Blue, but it’s also available in Green, and an even less expensive Pink 8.5 inch model.
Inside the cardboard packaging you’ll find the tablet, plastic stylus (your fingernail or just about any plastic object will also work), and required pre-installed coin-cell battery, which is good for about 100,000 page refreshes before needing to be replaced.
It’s interesting to note that while the screen size is larger than most other products of this type, it’s still nice and thin at approximately .19 inches, and it only weighs about 94 grams.
Operation is as simple as you’d expect. Write on the screen (preferably with the stylus) and it stays until you press the erase (garbage can) button.
While this does not include any type of mounting hardware or magnets for use on a refrigerator (all stuff you can procure and add yourself), there are a few interesting extra features. First, is a slot that allows you to insert the stylus so the unit can sit at an angle for easier reference. Another is a built-in ruler on the back of the screen, which is definitely a logical and thoughtful use for otherwise dead space. Finally, there’s a built-in stylus holder at the bottom of the unit. Shockingly, not all of these types of devices have that seemingly obvious latter feature.
As a single page sketch pad or note taker/leaver, these kinds of devices are invaluable and really do save on paper. The Geekerbuy unit is a truly great value for a screen size in this category of product.
Pluses:

– Great value
– Battery included

Summary:
The 12 inch Geekerbuy proves a great value in electronic writing tablets.
Thanks to Geekerbuy for the review unit.
