Mashup of JRPG and Bomberman, TNT Cowboy, coming in April for Mattel Intellivision!

March 2, 2019 Posted by Bill Loguidice News 2 Comments

Oscar Kenneth, from Kai Magazine Software, posted about the next great Intellivision release, TNT Cowboy. Oscar and the team were previously responsible for the excellent Ninja Odyssey, an impressive Adventure Island-like scrolling platformer game, also for the Intellivision. TNT Cowboy, which takes inspiration from JRPGs and Bomberman, is due out in April 2019.

As you can see in this video, the game looks amazing. Oscar and the team are really pushing the stock Intellivision hardware to new heights in under-represented genres!

A person who goes by the name "decle" has uploaded two fascinating videos that capture exactly what Mattel was going for in 1979 with the Keyboard Component. The first is "Conversational French," with Mimi's introduction, which has an impressive animated character with speech synchronized to the mouth movements.

I'll post the email below for posterity, but essentially it indicated the hardships the company has gone through in the past 18 months and how they're essentially going to primarily focus on IP and publishing games, with the hope that they'll eventually be able to release the Amico console, which had its first of several launch dates back in October of 2020.

Later, a ‘complete in box’ version will be available in summer for $70US.

Bomberman games have always been a blast to play for me.

The Bomberman game on the NES was so much fun.

And a Bomberman of JRPG kind sounds really interesting.

Plus, hearing that it’s another game from the makers of Ninja Odyssey, this game is worth looking into down the road.
