Backgammon Live Review

May 21, 2019 Posted by Jonathan Adams Editorial No Comments

Many historians consider backgammon one of the oldest board games in the world. It probably originated in Ancient Egypt or even Mesopotamia before it was accepted by the Greeks and Romans. Tabula, as it was called in Rome, went a long way — only to be made into a video game. However, board-turned-video games can be very dull if there is no person sitting on the other side to make the moves.

We’ve all witnessed the machine winning against the best chess players in the world, so playing against technology means that there is a scenario where humans cannot beat machines. Backgammon includes the luck factor, so we might be able to win against computers, but then again, we would miss the social aspect of the game where we get to have fun with human players we play against.

This is where Backgammon Live comes in to save the day. With the biggest community on the web, it is the best online backgammon game.

How to Play Backgammon Live?

Playing Backgammon Live is actually much easier than you think — the game is made as a Facebook app that you can access if you have an account on the most popular social network in the world.

You might be confused with the interface since so many things appear at once. Don’t run away, though. Instead, try to explore the interface and get familiar with it in order to get the most out of it. You will notice that the game offers additional bonuses and “coins” that you can claim and use to place bets before you start the game.

Software

If there is one thing this game excels at, it is the software powering it. You don’t have to worry about glitches and lags, even though these are not that uncommon when it comes to games that are part of the Facebook platform. However, the creators of Backgammon Live did their best to provide players with an outstanding experience.

Backgammon Live on Mobile

If you don’t feel like sitting at home, you can check out the Android and iOS apps for Backgammon Live. You can download them via Google Play or App Store and easily access all the features that are available in your Facebook app.

Design and Animations

Both the design and animations are very vivid and flashy, at least on the welcome screen. However, once you actually start playing, you will notice that the design is pretty straightforward and that animations are rather simple yet effective.

Gameplay

There is only one available version of backgammon in this app. In other words, people looking for other backgammon variants will perhaps not like the idea that there is just one type. However, this is the most popular variant the majority of players enjoy playing.

Note that Backgammon Live features a couple of mini-games such as blackjack and high/low, both of which you can play whenever you want to get some rest from playing the main game. In order to unlock these games, you must first reach level 10.

Speaking of levels, Backgammon Live offers an interesting system that enables players to progress through levels and unlock new and exciting features, including the mini-games. Moreover, players on high levels can unlock other boards and connect with other players who have a similar level of experience.

You can either choose to play against friends from your Facebook list or be matched automatically with another person interested in playing a game of backgammon. There are approximately 10 million active users, so there will always be somebody willing to test their skills and luck against yours.

The game also features coins that are basically the main payment units. You use these to place bets, buy new features, and more. The number of your coins is renewed at certain time intervals, but you can also use real money to buy them in case you run out of them.

Conclusion

Backgammon is a great game, and playing it online with other players from all over the world is really exciting. Make sure to respect backgammon etiquette, even when playing on the web, and have fun playing Backgammon Live.
