Things to Take Note of When Taking PALS Certification Examination

July 2, 2019 Posted by A.K. Patel Editorial 1 Comment

As a nurse or a professional in the field of medicine, getting the right kind of certification is absolutely essential in order to get ahead in the game and to become the best version of yourself that you can be. If you want to be a stand up medic though, it’s very important to get the PALS certificate.

So what exactly is the PALS certificate all about? PALS stands for Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and it’s basically a course that covers everything you need to know in the event of a child or infant needing emergency attention to resuscitate. It’s relatively easy to take this exam online, and according to https://www.acls-pals-bls.com/acls-certification-recertification/ ‘After registration you will receive access to a comprehensive list of free training materials that will teach you everything you need to know to successfully pass the certification exam.’ So what do you need to take note of when you’re taking the PALS exam?

What to expect

There are a couple of topics that are sure to come up in the exam, so it’s best that you’re prepared.

  • Case Scenarios – You’re bound to find that on the exams, you’ll be presented with a situation or a scenario, and you’ll be asked to run through what steps you would take in order to treat the given case.
  • Medication – You have to read up and memorize the different kinds of medications and their dosages and how you’d administer them in different cases.
  • Cardiology – It is crucial that you understand and memorize the ins and outs of anything cardiology related to this exam.
  • PALS Algorithms – There are a variety of algorithms that you will need to learn and memorize for the PALS exam.

How to be prepared

It’s important that you are organized in the way that you study and prepare yourself for taking the PALS exams. There is plenty of material available online that can help guide you through the process and it’s also a good idea to draw up a daily schedule regarding what you will cover, how you will revise it, and when you’ll go over it again so that you don’t forget. Some people study better with books rather than reading online, and others work better with taking notes. You also can’t go wrong if you watch videos because that is the most practical way to learn and remember the steps of what may come up in the exam.

Make sure that, first and foremost, where you obtain your PALS certificate from is recognized and certified. When taking the PALS exam, it’s important that you prepare yourself thoroughly beforehand. Even though the material should be easy to obtain, it’s important that you are aware of all the possible questions that may come up, and you need to be ready regardless of what the material is. As long as you have the basic points memorized and understood clearly, especially the order of the algorithms, you should be good to go. It may seem daunting to memorize things like how to relate how to read ECG reports, and how to administer the right dosage of every medication, but PALS courses that are available online help clarifying all these details on what to expect from the exam and how you can better understand the content.
