The Price of the Gambling Industry and the Top Gambling Countries

July 19, 2019 Posted by Abigail Massimo Editorial No Comments

Gambling has been around since the 17th century and as of today, this is one of the industries in the entire world that is quickly becoming bigger and popular. In fact, by 2023, the global gambling industry is expected to earn revenues of over $525 billion.

The popularity of the gambling industry is mainly thanks to technology. While land-based casinos are still doing great, gambling on the go is simply more convenient and easier to access. People no longer have to travel just to enjoy a game of slots or blackjack.

Anyone can now gamble through the use of their mobile phones and other devices like desktops and laptops. A great addition to playing such games on their devices is how they can be social while playing. Most online casinos would allow their players to interact with each other.

Nowadays, there are just a lot of online casinos that people can choose from. Each website offers different varieties of casino games that you can play in the comfort of your home. Another thing that helps the popularity of the gambling industry is its legalization.

There are still people who are conservative about gambling, but plenty of places all over the world are already accustomed to it. A few states in the US have already legalized most forms of gambling. Some of these states are New Jersey and Nevada.

The USA gambling industry alone is worth $240 billion. While that is already a big chunk of the money that the global gambling industry makes, the US isn’t really the country with the most gamblers. Here are the top countries with most gamblers out there.

USA

The USA is still the winner when it comes to the amount of revenue its gambling industry brings in. What’s very popular right now in the US is online gambling. Americans are always after the best mobile casinos out there.

The US has already allowed online casinos to be locally operated in some states. The states where online casinos are completely legal are New Jersey and Delaware. Recently, Pennsylvania has also announced that online casinos will be locally licensed in their state too.

For online poker, it is legal in Nevada, New Jersey, Delaware, and soon in Pennsylvania.  Online sports betting is legal in Nevada, New Jersey, West Virginia, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.

Australia

Australians are known to be a big fan of gambling too. In fact, adult gamblers in this country are reported to spend $1128 each. The huge success of the gambling industry in Australia is thanks to how their government has allowed sports betting and most forms of gambling legal.

The most popular form of gambling in Australia is the gaming machine or ‘pokies’. These are poker machines that are available for them to play in most casinos. The pokies are then followed by casino games and tabs.

Singapore

The growth of the gambling industry in Singapore is considered rapid. The first casino in this country opened in 2010, and right now, Singapore is next to Australia when it comes to how much they love gambling.

It is estimated that more than 50% of adults in this country gamble each year. Some forms of gambling that are legal in Singapore are casino gambling, 4D, Toto, Sports Betting, and Horse Racing. However, Singapore is strict when it comes to online casinos. Their government has chosen not to license and regulate any sites in their country.

Ireland

Ireland doesn’t seem to be strict when it comes to letting its people gamble. In fact, one could say that this country is pretty engaging when it comes to the gambling industry. Their government has allowed domestic and foreign licensing of online casinos.

This country is simply embracing the potential of the gambling industry. So far, they seem successful in regulating this industry in their country. Irish people seem to be one of the most responsible gamblers out there.

Canada

The people of Canada, particularly the ones from Saskatchewan, are big fans of gambling. While the lottery is the most popular form of gambling in the country, they still have a lot of mobile players out there. However, Canada is on the gray when it comes to the legalization of online gambling in their country.

It is still considered illegal for online casinos to operate within their country. However, Canadians are still allowed to place bets or gamble on websites that are based outside Canada. But still, there are legal online casinos ran by their government to generate regional funding.
