Will virtual reality be able to enhance the online casino experience?

Technology nowadays is a freight train that seems hard to stop. It seems like every day there’s a new breakthrough and someone came up with a fresh idea to make our life easier, more convenient or even more exciting thanks to technology.

When we were drawing pictures of the future in elementary school, we imagined flying cars and food in tubes and while flying cars aren’t part of our daily commute yet, the technology is basically there, and we might not be far off.

Thinking on a slightly smaller scale, technology has also made great strides in gaming and the newest fad seems to be virtual reality, giving players the chance to immerse themselves better in the games they’re playing. And VR isn’t even limited to video games anymore, it’s used in entertainment and even in online gambling with an online casino or two taking their first tentative steps into the VR world.

Slotsmillions is acting as the VR pioneer of the online casino industry

Using VR in an online casino makes perfect sense if you think about it. The idea of online casinos always been to bring the excitement of a casino visit to the players’ living room. It’s hard to get the full experience though when you just sit in front of your laptop, mobile or tablet and don’t even see the full slot machine.

Virtual reality fills that void and the Slotsmillion online casino is one of the first to implement the technology if the player has the right gadgets to use it. What you’ll need is, of course a VR headset, which is sold by a number of companies. The most well-known might be HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift and the Playstation VR.

Still, virtual reality itself is still in the starting block and so you can’t expect photorealistic graphics of live dealers and other players, even when you’re wearing a VR headset.

But Slotsmillion online casino still offers a more immersive experience where you can sit at a poker table with a dealer and other players and the surrounding world is canceled out, so you feel as if you’re actually sitting on that table and not still on your couch.

Is virtual reality the future of online casinos?

Predicting the usability of VR in online casinos is hard and the accessibility of VR gadgets is still not easy for everyone. As long as headsets and controllers are as expensive as they are right now, VR will remain a gimmick for hardcore players and not something that the average online casino visitor will be interested in.

But smartphones have been an absolute outlandish luxury product not too long ago and right now almost everyone and their mothers are sporting a mobile that can always access the internet and with that online casinos.

So, it’s hard to tell if VR will be as commonplace as smartphones in a few years’ time or if they will remain a luxury gadget for hardcore fans. But what we will say is that a visit to the online casino wearing a VR headset is as close as you’ll come to actually going to a casino without leaving your house.
