Top 5 Benefits of Using Technology in the Classroom

February 11, 2020 Posted by Armchair Arcade Staff Editorial No Comments

For students, advanced technology in the classroom is a fantastic opportunity to grow in a way that makes them suitable for the future job markets.

But professors benefit from it, too. Technology helps them achieve growth in their profession. They use it to explore different teaching styles. Plus, it makes their jobs way more fun.

Still, many teachers and schools are resistant towards the change. They are afraid that if they rely on more tech tools, the students will become more distracted.

It’s not technology that makes students distracted. It’s the inadequate use of apps and devices. If the professor chooses tools that suit the needs of that class, everyone will benefit from the decision.

This is not the right time to ban tablets, computers, and smartphones from schools. On the contrary; we should stimulate their proper use.

5 Pros of Introducing Technology in the Classroom

1. Digital Course Materials Are Easily Accessible

Did you know that not many universities teach blockchain technology?

Many students are interested to learn about it, but they don’t have access to such instructions in their school.

High-school students face similar issues. They want to know more about the universe, society, and different religions. However, they are stuck with a boring curriculum that doesn’t push them outside the box.

When teachers introduce digital course materials in the classroom, everything changes. They can teach about blockchain and anything else that the students are interested in. Online lectures are great because they cut hours of preparation for the teacher.

Many Khan Academy videos, Ted Talks, and YouTube videos offer outstanding instructions on all kinds of topics.

2. Today’s Students Will Be Part of a Data-Driven Future

Leaders use big data to make informed decisions. Marketers use it to promote the right type of product to the right consumer. Doctors use it to set diagnosis and direct the patient towards proper treatment. The logistics industry is practically dependent on data systems. Universities use it to analyze students’ performance and improve the decision-making process throughout the campus.

Big data is applied in all industries, and it will be getting increasingly important in the future.

We have to teach students how to understand big data. Their future careers depend on it.

3. The Internet Makes the Research and Writing Process Easier

Most students hate essay assignments.

Instead of blaming them for failing to cope with academic writing, we should start wondering: where does the resentment come from?

Professors assign these projects as homework. Once the student is done with all the classes, studying, and work, they are left with a challenging process of research.

Think about it: if professors find the time to fit these assignments in class time, everything will be different. They can have conference calls, so you can use cheap essay writing service. They will give clean instructions for researching, writing, and editing a paper.

4. Technology Makes Learning Fun

This is the main reason why younger students enjoy technology. They are used to using tablets and smartphones. They like colorful apps, and they want to use them for learning.

It’s no different for college students. If you give them a language learning app that accompanies the old-school lectures, they will be happy to use it. If the results from this app can replace homework, they will be even more encouraged to learn through it.

Language learning apps have been proven to be effective. The same goes for apps that teach physics, math, and any other subject area. The non-threatening learning environment encourages the students to move beyond their mistakes and make progress.

5. Technology Encourages Engagement

What’s your impression of a classroom?

If you envision a room full of students listening to a professor speak, you have an outdated understanding of the educational system.

Today, it’s all about active participation. Technology drives that trend forward.

Smartphones, tablets, and computers turn students from passive listeners into active participants in the teaching process. They can use their devices to ask questions, join discussions, mark the professor’s performance, and engage in teamwork.

We Must Embrace the Tech Trends

When used properly, teachers can use technology to create a better relationship with their students. They can use different apps and tools to make the teaching process more fun. They can invite the students to join discussions. They will teach topics beyond the standard curriculum.

Technology helps us prepare for the future workforce. It’s a fact that we mustn’t neglect.
