The Use of Casino Minigames in Other Games

June 27, 2020 Posted by Jonathan Adams Editorial No Comments

Gaming and gambling have so much in common that the gambling industry uses the terms interchangeably. The major difference between the terms is that for gaming, the outcome depends on the player’s skill rather than luck. The reverse is true for gambling.

Today, many gaming activities incorporate gambling features and vice versa. It’s common for video games to include a segment that incorporates casino games. When playing your favorite video game, you may come across a casino game like poker, blackjack, or roulette.

These games give you the opportunity to win extra items, or to increase your points so you can level up faster. Let’s explore some of the popular non-gambling games that feature casino minigames.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is perhaps the best video game with a touch of gambling. It features fully fledged casinos that offer games such as slots, video poker, roulette, and blackjack.

One attribute that sets this game apart is that players can borrow money from the casino. You may encounter some misfortunes during the game if you don’t pay back the loan.

Super Mario 64

This Nintendo DS game incorporates Luigi’s Casino. This casino features a range of regular casino games, including blackjack and roulette.

The casino also includes Mushroom Kingdom-themed slots, which exist mainly for entertainment purposes. You don’t need to spend real money to play at the casino.

The Witcher 3

Developed by CD Projekt in 2015, The Witcher 3 is one of the most addictive role-playing games, thanks to its intricate storylines and intriguing gameplay. The game is an adaptation of The Witcher series of fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The Witcher 3 includes the Gwent card game, which plays an integral side role. The card game is an excellent way to pass the time between killing monsters.

It involves collecting cards to build a strong deck and provides a mini-challenge besides the main arc of the story. If you love poker, you’ll most likely enjoy playing the Gwent card game.

The Sims 3

You can purchase the Sims 3 casino add-on to access a variety of casino online games such as blackjack, roulette, poker, and slots.

The action is not as exhilarating as in the other games, but you get a feel of what gambling is all about. If you’re a beginner to online casino gambling, you can use the Sims 3 as a training ground before you venture into mainstream gambling.

Final Fantasy VIII

Developed by Square for the PS console and released in 1999, Final Fantasy VIII is another popular role-playing video game that includes a casino game.

This game features the mini-card game Triple Triad. This card game involves playing on a grid with cards that feature four numbers. Each number corresponds to one side of the card.

With the use of color-coded cards, you place cards on an empty space on the board before being compared with your opponent’s cards. The player with the most cards wins.

These are just a few of the popular non-gambling games that feature casino minigames.
