High Paying Medical Careers That You Can Have With 2-4 Years of College

Healthcare jobs offer many perks, such as high pay scale, job security, work satisfaction, and many others. That is why medical careers are the first choice of students who study biology in school. No doubt that biology is a lot of hard work. You have read several books, online articles, and research papers to complete your assignments. Most students also need to consult teachers and online tutors when they need help with biology homework. It is not surprising that most students are under the impression that medical careers need years of education and hard work. We are here to tell you that it is not necessarily true. There are many high-paying medical jobs that you can bag with two to four years of education, or boost with an online course in life-saving skills such as BLS, for instance.

There are many short certificate courses, diplomas, and bachelor’s degree programs that can be completed in two to four years of education, and many of them, from paramedic pharmacology courses to training for an EMT exam, can be found and completed online. You might need to get a short amount of vocational training to get an impressive job in the healthcare industry with great prospects. Additionally, the growing demand for healthcare professionals has created a broad range of job opportunities, and medical staffing solutions can connect you with healthcare organizations looking to fill positions quickly and efficiently. The following are a few examples of medical jobs you can consider.

Biomedical Engineer

If you are equally good at maths and biology, you can think of getting a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering. Biomedical engineers use their technical abilities and analytical skills in the healthcare industry. It is an advancing field with multiple avenues for getting a job. They work with doctors and other medical professionals to design and maintain essential medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers. Biomedical engineers also work with research labs and manufacturing companies to develop artificial organs, bio-mechanical parts, prosthetics and engineered skin. The average annual salary of a biomedical engineer is $95,000 approximately.

Dental Hygienist

If you are a stickler for dental hygiene, and oral care intrigues you, you can consider a career as a dental hygienist. With two years of education in a dental school, you can get an associate degree in dental hygiene. Dental hygienists usually work as assistants to dentists, or at dental clinics. Some of the responsibilities can be:

  • Cleaning and polishing teeth
  • Taking x-rays
  • Applying dental sealants
  • Updating dental records
  • Educating dental patients

The job of a dental hygienist does not involve a lot of stress and pays very well. A dental hygienist can earn an average salary of $75,000 per year.

Ultrasound Technician

With two years of medical education, you can get a fulfilling career as an ultrasound technician or a medical sonographer. Ultrasound technology used high-frequency audio waves to generate details of the internal organs of a human body. Because of its non-invasive nature, it is regarded as one of the safest methods of medical diagnosis. Ultrasound technology gets used in pregnancy, detection of stones, determining organ health, and many other diagnostic procedures. Technicians work closely with doctors and physicians to assist them in giving their patients an appropriate diagnosis. The average annual salary of an ultrasound technician is about $73,000.

Radiologic Technologist

Radiologic Technologist or X-Ray technician has one of the most important jobs in any hospital or healthcare center. You will be using advanced X-ray scanning technology to generate images of the internal organs of a patient, especially the skeletal structure. X-ray is also used to identify any foreign objects present in the body, such as kidney or gall bladder stones. After obtaining the image, technologists also have to create a report so that the doctor can review it and treat the patient. An X-ray technician earns approximately $61,500 every year on an average.

Nutritionist or Dietitian

The majority of the population is getting increasingly conscious about leading a healthier lifestyle. More and more people are concerned with what they eat and choosing healthier alternatives to their regular dietary habits. That is why there is a growing demand for nutritionists and dietary experts. Are dietitians and nutritionists the same? Not exactly. Dietitians have to follow stringent rules and legal stipulations. You must complete an approved bachelor’s degree and a supervised internship to register yourself as a dietician. It is a statutory requirement for many states and employers to hire a dietician. Nutritionists do not have to follow such stringent regulations. Although it is not a mandatory requirement by the states or employers, you can earn credentials as a certified nutrition specialist (CNS) to get a better part package. Both dieticians and nutritionists have a lucrative career related to food and nutrition. Their average annual salary can be up to $61,000.

No matter which career you choose, make sure that the subject is of interest. That will ensure that you love your job, which is necessary to excel and prosper in the field.
