Slots and Other Ways to Discover More About Ancient Egypt

February 24, 2022 Posted by Jane Smith Editorial No Comments

Of all the ancient civilisations in the history of humankind, ancient Egypt is up there with the most intriguing. There is so much mystery surrounding the people who managed to build some of the most incredible structures ever seen. The amazing thing about the era is that archaeologists still have many questions to answer.

There are plenty of ways for people to boost their knowledge about this period, with the entertainment industry being the best place to look. Aside from there being several exciting slots about ancient Egypt, there are also documentaries and films.

Themed Slots

It could be argued that the slots market is the greatest place to find games with Egyptian themes, as this genre seems to be a go-to favourite among developers of reel-spinning games. For example, when you glance through the options at Paddy Power’s casino, you’ll see titles like Eye of Horus, Cleopatra, and Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead. The sheer prevalence of these games highlights how much players are enticed by the theme.

Players can’t get deep knowledge about ancient Egypt from playing slot games, but they can learn about the famous iconography from the time. Along with iconic rulers like Cleopatra and Tutankhamun, players often see some of the gods of the time such as Anubis, Isis, and Horus. These titles provide players with a sense of adventure and discovery and immerse them in the search for long-forgotten artifacts.

Interesting Documentaries on Streaming Services

For people who want to delve into greater detail about ancient Egypt, there are innumerable documentaries out there on streaming services. One of the most recent offerings was Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb on Netflix. When the top minds at the world-renowned streaming platform heard about the 2018 discovery, they quickly sent a film crew over to document the uncovering of the 4000-year-old tomb.

For Amazon Prime viewers, there’s the 2010 offering, Secrets of the Dead: Silver Pharaoh, which focused on the relatively unknown ruler, the Pharaoh Psusennes. This dark and gripping feature describes the events surrounding the discovery that occurred in 1939. Some other fascinating options to watch include Treasures of Ancient Egypt, Life and Death in the Valley of the Kings, and Egypt: New Discoveries, Ancient Mysteries.

Plenty of Films about the Era

The other route for budding ancient Egyptian aficionados is to view one of the countless films based on the era. Ever since the beginning of cinema, Hollywood has been fixated on this age-old civilisation. Cleopatra by J. Gordon Edwards was one of the first-ever films in 1917, and was based on William Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. Since then, there have been more than eight other versions of this iconic tragedy.

The Mummy in 1932 had a similar impact on the film industry, and there were four sequels to Karl Freund’s film. There have also been numerous remakes, with the latest coming in 2017 and starring Tom Cruise.

For anyone looking to expand their knowledge about ancient Egypt, there are so many entertaining ways to do so without ever having to open a book. After playing all the related games and watching documentaries and films, ordinary people can feel as knowledgeable as archaeologists.
