HBO Max Originals: Must-Watch TV Series on the Platform

September 26, 2023 Posted by Andrei Kuznetsov Editorial No Comments

Max, the newly titled streaming service, boasts an extensive collection of content. Its original programming sets it apart as one of the best shows on Max. Not only do these shows stand out among Max’s impressive selection, but they also represent some of the finest television currently available. For now, the focus is on the remarkable original programming that distinguishes the best shows on Max.

Privacy rules for HBO Max, Netflix

Did you know that Netflix, HBO Max, and other services store your viewing history? Anyone with account access can access Netflix viewing history. From a privacy point of view, it is appropriate to delete Watch history. It’s not that difficult to clear Netflix history. However, it is worth noting that this applies to all streaming services because they collect data about us constantly.

The developers don’t care about privacy on Netflix for their users. For this reason, everyone should search for the Netflix history deletion guide themselves and implement it. It turns out that everyone should know how to delete Netflix history, otherwise, the service will store your viewing history. And in Netflix account settings you cannot disable history keeping. However, there are other privacy tips for Netflix: using a VPN to change the region, and registering an account with a gift card, without linking a bank card. The issue of privacy and security is acute everywhere, even on Netflix, even on Max.

Must-Watch TV Originals Series on the HBO Max

#1 DMZ

Ava Duvernay, an exceptionally gifted filmmaker, unfortunately, didn’t garner the viewership her DC comic-based series DMZ deserved. Set in a future torn by civil war, the show follows Alma (played by Rosario Dawson), a courageous medic on a quest to find her son in Manhattan’s demilitarized zone. Though some believe the show failed to fully unleash its intriguing premise, the potential for narrative growth loomed. Unfortunately, it ended prematurely as a concise four-episode miniseries.

#2 Gangs of London

Finn Wallace, portrayed by Colm Meaney, leads London’s criminal underworld with an iron fist until his brutal murder. This event triggers a chaotic upheaval as rival gang leaders fight to seize his prestigious position. Among those vying for power at Finn’s table is his equally determined son, Sean, played by Joe Cole. The investigation into his father’s assassination piques Sean’s interest, along with that of a London police officer who has successfully infiltrated the Wallace organization. This thrilling series, co-created by Gareth Evans, renowned for The Raid and The Raid 2, proves to be an exceptional television adaptation, reaching even the caliber of The Last of Us video game.

#3 Peacemaker

Peacemaker, also known as Chris Smith, is an outrageous character who embodies contradiction with his red, white, and blue costume. From his arrogant and socially unaware demeanor to his misogynistic and culturally insensitive behavior, Peacemaker’s ridiculousness knows no bounds. Not only does he sport a headpiece that resembles a toilet seat but he also has a pet bald eagle named Eagly. One cannot miss his frequently used catchphrase, “I will achieve peace at any cost,” as demonstrated in The Suicide Squad. The lives of men, women, and children mean nothing to him as long as his goal is accomplished.

#4 Fear the Walking Dead

This The Walking Dead spin-off follows a blended family — Madison (Kim Dickens), a high school guidance counselor, Travis (Cliff Curtis), her fiancé, and their children Nick (Frank Dillane) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) — as they navigate through life in a prequel series that eventually catches up with the timeline of its predecessor. They strive to build a new life for themselves and face the challenges brought about by the oncoming zombie apocalypse. Travis’ ex-wife Lisa (Elizabeth Rodriguez) and their son Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) are also part of the story.

#5 The Staircase

The true-crime boom of recent years has captivated audiences with the gripping case of The Staircase. The Max original miniseries delves further into the shocking story, starring Oscar-winner Colin Firth as crime novelist Michael Peterson. When Peterson reports his wife’s death after a fall down the stairs, he quickly becomes a suspect. What sets this show apart is its basis on a documentary that closely followed the case, playing a significant role in the narrative. Firth’s performance exudes an unsettling yet authentic tone, enhancing the overall story.

If HBO Max is not available in your country, simply change your country. Virtual relocation can be done via VPN Chrome extension in just a couple of clicks. Connect to servers in the USA and you can watch Max movies or TV series.

#6 Full Circle

In the gritty streets of New York City, the lives of seemingly unconnected characters intertwine when a teenager mysteriously vanishes. Filmmaker Ed Solomon, known for his work on “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” crafts a twisty crime series that defies expectations. Claire Danes and Timothy Olyphant portray bereaved parents grappling with the abduction of their son, only to discover a tangled web of deception. Guided by the masterful touch of Steven Soderbergh, who both produces and directs all six episodes of this limited series, nothing in this tale is as it appears. Expect the unexpected as the truth unravels.

#7 The Rehearsal

Nathan Fielder, renowned for his Comedy Central show Nathan For You (and cringe comedy), creates, directs, and stars in this HBO series. The comedian goes above and beyond, facilitating people to practice moments before they occur. In the first episode, Fielder aids a man in preparing for a confession to a friend, constructing a replica of the bar they plan to meet at (the incredible attention to detail is captivating). After accounting for any unexpected occurrences, we witness the authentic exchange between the two friends unfold. The Rehearsal is an eccentric and truly captivating show that deserves your attention.

Conclusion

There’s a lot to watch on HBO Max and not just the shows that are available on different platforms. There are several original series only available here. They are the main magnet for this service, although it also has other advantages. You now know the best of the originals.
