The Gunnar Diablo IV Sanctuary Edition Glasses are designed to block 65% of blue light at 450nm and 100% of UV. As with other Gunnar glasses using GUNNAR-Focus lenses, it features a dual-sided anti-reflective and smudge-resistant lens coating. Of course, it’s also available with a variety of prescription lenses.
I’ve covered Gunnar glasses before, including the potential benefits of blocking blue light from displays, and these are more of the same, just with the associated Diablo IV branding and cool blood-onyx acetate frame. They’re just in time for the upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion.
As expected for Gunnar, these glasses come with a nice lined magnetic paperboard case, double-sided lens cloth, and soft lens case (the Diablo USB drive from back-in-the-day shown in the photos is not included). The real star for me, though, are the glasses themselves. Not only do they properly evoke Diablo’s themes, they do so in such a classy way that they can double as everyday glasses.
Although I no longer need prescription lenses myself, I occasionally enjoy wearing these when using my computer because they really do increase screen contrast and clarity, as well as reduce eye fatigue. Again, though, while that would be impressive enough on its own, I’d argue the real hook here is how good the actual glasses look.
