Here’s the announcement of the THE 800XL (or, THE800XL) from Retro Games Ltd:
“We’ve been working closely with 𝗔𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶 to faithfully recreate one of the most iconic 8-bit home computers ever made, preserving the look, feel and character of the original while bringing it right up to date.
With a full-size mechanical keyboard, working cartridge slot, built-in 𝗔𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶 BASIC, 25 built-in games, USB support, HDMI output, save states and rewind time, 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟴𝟬𝟬𝗫𝗟 brings the 𝗔𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶 8-bit experience to a whole new generation.
And this is much more than a games machine. It’s a computer you can play, program and create on, just like the original.
Pre-orders are open now, with 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟴𝟬𝟬𝗫𝗟 shipping April 23, 2027.
Watch the video and discover the return of an 𝗔𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶 legend.”
I’ve reviewed THE400 Mini previously, and was one of the first to break the full game list. In my collection is also a large amount of Atari 8-bit hardware and software, so the fact that this has a cartridge port is a huge plus, although I’m sure most of us will use the option for a USB flash drive. While I favor original hardware, it’s hard to argue with the relatively simplicity of modern plug and play options.

Here’s the full built-in game list for THE 800XL, which is the same as THE400 Mini:
