How to get better at FIFA

June 1, 2021 Posted by Jonathan Adams Editorial No Comments

FIFA is one of the world’s most popular sports games. After all, it’s based on the world’s most popular sport. The latest edition, FIFA 21, is one of the best in the franchise’s history. However, it’s still pretty hard to master. This guide will teach you how to get better at FIFA.

Jockey

One of the most important tips in FIFA is to jockey. This allows your defender to mark an attacker without committing to a challenge. Then, when the moment is right, you can take the ball. This is how defenders play in real life, and it’s how the best FIFA players stop attacks.

Don’t Sprint

There are times in a game of FIFA when you need to sprint. However, most of the time, you should be jogging. This gives you more control over the ball and makes it much harder for defenders to tackle you. Only sprint when you have a clear pitch in front of you.

Use the Radar

The radar at the bottom of the screen is super useful. It tells you where players are, even when they’re off the screen. This allows you to make longer passes, and direct goal kicks better. Get used to looking at the radar to see what is happening around you.

Use Agile Dribbling and Creative Run

These are two of the latest features in FIFA. Agile Dribbling and Creative Run allow your player to act more like a real-life footballer. You can keep the ball closer to the feet of the player and take it around defenders.

Vary your Passes

If you’re making the same pass over and over again, you are going to become predictable. When you’re playing against a real opponent, they will quickly pick up on your tactics (often without realizing it). Mix short passes, long passes, through balls, lofted through balls, and crosses.

Practice Set Piece

Every set piece is an opportunity to score, whether it’s a free-kick, cross, or penalty. Practice these until you’re a master at them. This way, you won’t miss out on great opportunities to pick up goals.

Get to Know your Players

The best FIFA players know each team member like the back of their hands. They will study their attributes and practice with them until they completely understand them. This helps because it allows you to know what to do when a certain player has control of the ball. For example, if a quick right-winger has the ball, you can outrun the defending left-back.

Hit Them on the Counter

Counterattacking is one of the most useful tactics in football. This happens when the opposing team has committed all of their defenders to attack, leaving them open at the back. When this happens, you need to move quickly and play through balls. Then, sprint with your attacker towards the goal.

Whip Crosses into the Box

Whipping a cross into the box is one of the best chances you have to score, especially if you have tall attackers. Whenever you’re in a good position to cross the ball into the net, don’t hesitate.

Watch Some Real-life Football

One of the best tips to get better at FIFA is to actually watch football. You will pick up on tactics, learn the best players, and see the team’s weaknesses. Watch the upcoming Euro 2021 competition and analyze each game. Then, you can use that knowledge to improve your FIFA game.
