Fans can expect classic games from beloved properties like Disney’s Donald Duck, Tron, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Jungle Book, The Lion King and Wreck-It Ralph, as well as games from Lucasfilm’s legendary Star Wars games portfolio. The games will appear on AtGames products including the full-size Legends Ultimate Home Arcade machine, Blast! family plug-n-play micro-console and wireless controller bundles, retro consoles, and portables. More details, including pricing, full game lineup and availability will be announced soon.

The Legends Ultimate Home Arcade features more than 250 built-in arcade and home games, including a range of classic Disney and Star Wars game properties and other legends from iconic publishers. As a full-sized home arcade machine, the Legends Ultimate Home Arcade offers a gameplay experience like no other. Each game plays just like at the arcade thanks to an authentic control panel that features a matching set of premium joysticks and six buttons for two player fun, a trackball controller, and a built-in, low latency, high definition LCD. The built-in software is similarly impressive, with scan line filtering, an intuitive menu system, save and resume game functionality, and the ability to rewind a game in progress to recover from a play misstep.

The Blast! series of plug-n-play micro-console and wireless controller bundles feature a curated selection of classic titles unique to each model. Every Blast! includes high definition video output, an intuitive menu system, save and resume game functionality, and the ability to rewind a game in progress to recover from a play misstep.

“These new products offer families everywhere a way to experience some of the greatest classic Disney and Star Wars games in unique ways,” says Dr. Ping-Kang Hsiung, CEO of AtGames. “We’re delighted that Disney and Lucasfilm’s iconic properties are a key part of this exciting line-up of family-friendly products.”

For a teaser, the new Avengers: Infinity War trailer did the job for me, although some of the CGI seemed a bit dodgier than usual (Spider-Man, etc.). While I have yet to see the Justice League movie (I’ll have to wait for the home release at this point), I never did get a sense of a truly epic all-characters battle based on the previews. It seems/seemed “small,” particularly given what we already had with the previous Avengers movies, although I will admit that’s a high bar to meet. With this new teaser, I feel confident based on Marvel’s previous track record that we’ll get that kind of all-out conflict many of us dreamed of as kids (and frankly never thought we’d get with live action–thank you technological progress).

I think it’s fair to say the super hero thing is pretty much nailed these days. Frankly what I’d love to see now is a serious take on Dungeons & Dragons with the same budget/production values as your average blockbuster super hero movie. While there was the Lord of the Rings series, I still really want a true D&D experience (and Heroes of the Lance would do just fine in terms of actual characters to work with). It goes without saying that what’s been done to D&D in terms of movies and TV to this point has been a travesty, but then super hero movies used to be pretty bad in that regard as well, so there’s always hope.

As an homage to the classic block of cartoons that made up The Disney Afternoon, Capcom has released a collection of six Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games for Windows (Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The six games are: DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2. You can also get the PS4 and Xbox One versions digitally via Amazon.

While not every game is a winner, as both an original fan of The Disney Afternoon and of themed compilations like this, I find it pretty hard to resist. The added rewind functionality and save slot for each game makes these sometimes overly hard games (particularly for my middle-aged reflexes) even better.

I’m also a bit ambivalent about this not being on the Nintendo Switch. Even though that system lacks a proper d-pad in its default configuration (making games like Puyo Puyo Tetris a bit frustrating for me), it still seems like it would be a great way to play this particular collection. Maybe in the future.
