Whether in the kitchen for checking the temperatures of various foods, looking for hot or cold spots within your home to figure out where you might need to better insulate, or even to check on the temperature of the CPU in your computer, a good infrared thermometer can provide for a wide range of valuable data collection.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://amzn.to/1Pp8MiL" target="_blank">Nubee Infrared Thermometer</a> offers a great feature-set for a surprisingly low price (<a href="http://amzn.to/1Pp8MiL" target="_blank">just $12.95 right now on Amazon</a>). You get the thermometer, the required DC 9V battery, which goes in the handle, and a concise, yet thorough instruction sheet, which I also found quite educational.</p>
<div id="attachment_1978" style="width: 1034px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1978" class="size-large wp-image-1978" src="https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277-1024x720.jpg?resize=1024%2C720" alt="The back of the package for the Nubee Infrared Thermometer." width="1024" height="720" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?resize=1024%2C720&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?resize=150%2C105&amp;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?resize=300%2C211&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?resize=900%2C633&amp;ssl=1 900w, https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?resize=498%2C350&amp;ssl=1 498w, https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?resize=100%2C70&amp;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/armchairarcade.com/perspectives/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DSC_0277.jpg?w=2280&amp;ssl=1 2280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><p id="caption-attachment-1978" class="wp-caption-text">The back of the package for the Nubee Infrared Thermometer.</p></div>
<p>There are four buttons on the <a href="http://amzn.to/1Pp8MiL" target="_blank">Nubee Infrared Thermometer</a>. One button turns the red targeting laser on or off, another button switches between celsius and fahrenheit readings on the LCD display, the other is the trigger for single or continuous measuring, and the last is for setting the emissivity, which is a measure of the efficiency in which a surface emits thermal energy and which should be individually set for each material type you&#8217;re measuring (in my video quick look&nbsp;that follows, I set the emissivity to 0.96 per the instruction manual to properly measure the ice&#8217;s temperature).</p>
<p><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rRsra2l56tE" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p>
<p>There&#8217;s little else to say about this device. It does exactly what it says for an extremely competitive price. I think it would&nbsp;be&nbsp;a fun and valuable addition to just about anyone&#8217;s toolkit.</p>
