1. The Heritage of Eight\nMillennia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The history\nof Malta is a huge topic. After all, it all started around 6,000 BC. Since the\ntime of Christ, 11 foreign entities ruled Malta until it finally became\nindependent in 1964.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malta has\nretained a lot of heritage sites and culture from the times of the Romans, the\nByzantines, the Order of St. John (the Knights of Malta) and, most recently,\nthe British.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past,\nMalta was also ruled by the Muslims and the Phoenicians way before that. So,\nit\u2019s a land where most of the region\u2019s cultures have left a trace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
