The Many Uses of Mobile Devices: Real Money Gaming

May 22, 2017 Posted by Jonathan Adams Editorial No Comments

We continue our ongoing series on gambling and technology with a reflection and a warning.

There is absolutely no doubt that mobile devices are now an essential part of everyday living. There was once a time when one could afford not to have a mobile communication device. However, that time is long gone. You can no longer exist effectively on the face of this planet without at least a basic mobile phone. There are now many uses of mobile devices that have come up over the last couple of years.

The functions on the latest smart mobile devices make life much easier even when you are playing slot machines. Functions in mobile devices have advanced from being only utility-based like the calculator and the flashlight. These extras were the pioneers. But now, the extras on mobile devices are a lot more exiting.

The latest apps available to the average smartphone user literary transform your device into a different gadget, from providing the user with the latest weather information to being the perfect guide through a strange city. Mobile phones now take the form of almost any function that you want. Whatever needs to be done can be done as long as there is an application that supports it. You can now play your favourite casino games online, e.g., visiting https://www.newzealandcasinos.io/online-pokies, thus turning your smart device into a mobile gambling portal. Gaming applications are among the most used in the world. Real money online gaming is one of the fastest growing sectors in the gaming industry.

However, as the industry continues to grow there are people who are now taking advantage of smartphone users. It therefore demands that mobile device users becomes very discerning. Not only do you need to be careful not to lose money to online scams, but there are also apps that promise to do fantastic things, which they cannot do, like apps that promise to solve acne problems with the light from the screen. It’s obviously good that there are many online watchdogs who are protecting users, but of course users themselves must take as much personal responsibility as possible. It’s important to be a skeptic!

From Loot Boxes to Slot Machines: The Blurred Lines Between Gaming and Gambling

May 20, 2024

The video gaming industry frequently faces criticism for the loot box mechanic, likened to gambling. Loot boxes, integral to many games today, involve purchasing unknown items with real money, similar to gambling. The industry, which generated $19 billion in 2022, sees these boxes as vital, though they're controversial due to their unpredictability and potential for addiction. Social casinos mimic this model without real money payouts, employing similar psychological principles to engage users.
