How to Balance Videos Games and Studying

Do you want to know why I stopped playing video games? It’s because I thought that I would never be able to game while also focusing on my studies. I now know that that isn’t true, so if any of you are reading this and afraid that you will have to give up games while you study, worry no more! It is entirely possible to do both – you just need to be able to handle your time effectively, and not let yourself be distracted. This can be accomplished through a number of means, and it depends on how you approach your studies.

Manage your Time

The key to being able to keep gaming while also studying is learning how to manage your time effectively. Rather than sticking rigidly to one or the other (both bad approaches in their own way, although the penalties for giving up all games for studying are less well known), it is best to have a happy medium.

This can happen in one of two ways, according to experts from https://essayzoo.org/. Either people can stick to a strict schedule which allows time for both studying and gaming, or they can use a reward system, where gaming is a reward for time well spent.

Time management is key.

Time management is key.

Having a schedule is possibly the best way to handle studying and work, because it keeps you on the straight and narrow. This also means that you can keep yourself going (because studying can be quite hard), because there is a point where you can see the end. Scheduling also allows you to mix up what you are doing day by day, and hour by hour, so that you don’t end up losing focus.

Using gaming as a reward is another way of managing your time. When you say to yourself that you will game for an hour in response to six hours of studying, then you have given yourself something to work towards, which can make all the difference. If you let yourself work for a reward, then you will most likely work harder than you otherwise would have. This means that gaming becomes something to look forward to, something to work towards, rather than something you simply do because it is what you do with your time.

Turn Gaming into an Event

Where using gaming as a reward turns it into something more special than it might otherwise be, this also work in general as well.

Rather than asking yourself how to stop gaming for the duration, make it so that you still game, but that it is a truly special event. Rather than simply gaming every night, reserve it for one night a week. Get yourself some special drinks and snacks, make sure that you have a specific amount of time for it, and you will find yourself having a much more enjoyable time with your gaming than you otherwise would.

If you turn gaming into an event, you are also taking some steps to ensure that it won’t get in the way of you studying. Something that happens once a week is possibly going to prey on your mind much less than something you do every night.

How to Arrange with Parents for more Gaming Time

Parents might not always agree with the way you game, particularly if they are not gamers themselves. When you are speaking to them about more gaming time, or specific gaming times, it is important to keep your head. Rather than simply talking about gaming, talk about why, and when. Make a solid case for using it as a reward, using it as relaxation time. Make sure that your parents know that you are using gaming as a way to relax after studying, and not as a way of avoiding studying.

Before you speak to your parents, make sure that you have a plan. Lay out the benefits of gaming, and if you have a study schedule, show them that. Show them how gaming fits into that, whether it is part of the regular schedule, or whether you are going to make a big event of it. Gaming can be an important part of studying, so you must help your parents understand where you are coming from.

Conclusion

As experts from Custom Essay Order have said, you don’t need to completely give up gaming when you are studying. You can change your habits to accommodate both of them, while not slipping up on your responsibilities. People have a variety of ways to do this, some of which are discussed here, some of which will be found elsewhere. It doesn’t matter what you do to balance gaming and studying, only that you do. This article does not intend to cover everything about the subject, but it will hopefully give people some ideas about what they can do, and also help to point them in the right direction for more information.
