Video Slots – Inside and Out

January 24, 2020 Posted by Jonathan Adams Editorial No Comments

Slot machines have come a long way since the famous Liberty Bell. From the dark days of prohibition, through the classic three-reel, one-armed bandit era, to electronic video slots and now mobile-friendly games, slots have always evolved. Today, players are greeted with a plethora of different titles they can choose from. Some aren’t too dissimilar from the shape and gameplay offered in the original Liberty Bell game in the late 1800s. Others are so advanced; they scarcely have anything in common with the first-ever slot.

Video slots are amongst the most popular casino games you can play. Unlike classic, three-reel slots, video slots are often played over five or more reels. Moreover, they can contain anything from nine lines up to several hundred thousand paylines. They cover a multitude of themes, including comic book heroes, Irish luck, ancient Egypt, sports and brands and franchises. Video slots make up the lion’s share of the games you can find online, and they deserve a closer look.

Where to Play Video Slots

You don’t have to look hard to find video slots aplenty online. Every major online casino (and smaller-scale ones) carry allvideoslots. The types of games you can play vary from site to site. They may include games with progressive, uncapped jackpot prizes. Others may have fixed, non-progressive winnings up for grabs. Some feature 3D graphics and animations, while others are more closely related to the slots of yesteryear.

Video slots are now so numerous that they are often just referred to as “slots”, with the older, three-reel variety now being classified as classic slots. Pop into any casino site online, and you will find an ample selection to choose from.

Things to Note About Video Slots

Most video slots contain bonus rounds or features. This is one of several things which differentiates them from classic slots. It is not uncommon to find wild symbols which can replace other icons, scatter icons which count anywhere, and bonuses such as free spins and click and win features. When playing these slots, there are few things worth noting.

The best video slots feature random number generators. Winning and losing streaks simply don’t exist. RNGs ensure that every spin offers a fair chance to win. There is a multitude of different slot themes for you to enjoy, so try to find one which is fun to play. By making your gaming experience fun-orientated, you’re less likely to become frustrated when you lose.

Free spin bonuses and other goodies are designed to help you win and increase the amount of fun you can have. However, the developers of the games have considered these increased chances of success into the design of the game. They may have increased or decreased the volatility and RTP (return to player) of the game to compensate for that. You should pay attention these as they can dictate how often and how much a slot pays. Highly volatile slots are likely to pay larger wins but less frequently than low variance games, which offer frequent wins, but smaller prizes.
