The Best Retro Gaming Consoles

It has been decades since arcades and consoles like NES were famous. Today, gaming websites offering no deposit bingo free money bonuses seem more attractive. That is understandable because you can play online bingo while chatting with other players and having fun.

However, retro gaming consoles are making their comeback in the latest years. The experts suggest that the psychology of nostalgia is the reason why people want to play Super Mario and similar games again. Many players appreciate the simplicity of the pick-up-and-play system instead of spending hours just learning how to play.

Check out our suggestions for the best retro gaming consoles for playing your favourite games!

NES and Super NES Classic Edition

It is impossible to imagine a list of retro arcade consoles without Nintendo. According to the fans, the list of most popular games made by this manufacturer includes Contra, Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, etc.

Nintendo released two consoles for all nostalgic fans:

  • NES Classic Edition – an official console with a 720p rate and an HDMI output sounds tempting. The list of games is impressive, and you can play Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros, Castlevania, and other famous releases.
  • Super NES Classic Edition – it followed the success of the classic NES version. The console features a beautiful design, but not too many games. However, Super Mario is there again, as well as the Legend of Zelda and Super Metroid.

Sega Genesis Mini

Sega is another company that marked the golden era of retro games. The Japanese gaming giant develops this 16-bit console, and it features games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes, and Streets of Rage. Sega Genesis Mini looks excellent, and the joystick design resembles the original. Although it comes with many games, you can buy an accessory pack to make it compatible with 32X and CD systems.

X-Arcade Cocktail Arcade Machine

If you ask us, this is the real gem for those who appreciate arcade gaming. While it doesn’t resemble any original machine, the console comes with an attractive design that perfectly fits the 80’s theme.

You can play over 200 games on this system, and that includes Mortal Kombat, Metal Slug, Ecco the Dolphin, Sonic, etc. Thanks to the unique software behind it, X-Arcade provides support for over ten systems, which allows you to add more games of your choice.

The Polycade

The Polycade is an excellent addition to your game room (or just put it in the living room). You mount the console to a wall, which is a nice touch and a real space-saver. The machine comes with two joysticks so that you can play with a friend.

Players can pick from a variety of games, as well as add any ROMs they feel like playing. Since the Polycade is Steam-compatible, you can head to this platform to find new games, too.

It is hard to mention all arcade machines and consoles that try to recapture that original gaming experience. We feel blessed that a variety of devices is offered these days. All you should do is to choose your favourite and start playing!
