6 Fun & Simple Online Games To Play In Your Spare Time

February 9, 2024 Posted by Jane Smith Editorial No Comments

Have you ever sat at home or on the bus wishing you could find something to pass the time? The joy of gaming means you’re never truly bored. There will always be something you can load up and play for anywhere between a few minutes to a couple of hours. Time flies when you’re having fun – and we’ve got six extremely fun online games for you to try in your spare time.

Wanna know the best part? All of these games are simple to play and you don’t need anything other than your phone or a tablet/computer!

Online Roulette

You won’t find a more simple yet enjoyable game than online roulette. Many versions of roulette can be found online, though it’s best to play one at a UK casino not on GamStop as suggested by CasinoGam. This will ensure you’re playing one of the latest versions with all the best features!

Playing roulette is as simple as one, two, three:

  1. Pick an outcome – Red/Black, Odd/Even, Top Line, etc.
  2. Stake your bet
  3. Spin the wheel and hope for the best

It’s entirely possible to play online roulette for free as well; though adding some wagers does make it a bit spicier. We’ll leave the decision in your hands and you can spend so many boring minutes playing roulette and having a whale of a time.

Solitaire

Every Windows PC is loaded up with a free version of Solitaire. This classic card game comes in many forms though the simplest version is often the best. It’s a game of strategy and forward-thinking; you have to perform a move while thinking two or three moves ahead.

We think the best thing about Solitaire is how random it can be. Your chances of success depend on how the cards are drawn and laid in the beginning. New Scientist revealed a few years ago that around 80% of Solitaire games are winnable. You’re bound to lose a few, but that’s what makes it so enjoyable.

There’s something fun about getting stuck and trying to work a way around it. You’re constantly undoing moves and looking for new solutions. Before you know it, you’ve spent an hour playing Solitaire! It’s the perfect boredom-releasing game – and it’s good for your brain too. You practice problem-solving and critical thinking; who said gaming isn’t good for you?! If you’d like to play, try playing solitaire here.

Bandle

This is a cool online game we discovered recently and it follows on from the trend set by Wordle. We all remember when Wordle became a thing and everyone played it religiously for months. It led to the game being sold to the NY Times for a seven-figure sum and resulted in a spawn of other “dle” games.

The concept of a “dle” is simple; you’re given 5 or 6 guesses to reveal the answer to something. Worlde made you guess a five-letter word, but Bandle makes you guess a song. It does so by playing five instruments that gradually get added over one another to form a funny rendition of a song.

For example, today’s Bandle gives the following:

  1. Drums
  2. Bass
  3. Electric Guitar 1
  4. Electric Guitar 2
  5. Voice Cover
  6. Clue

You play each instrument and try to figure out the song. It also tells you when the song was released and how many YouTube views as an extra clue. If you can’t get it after the Voice Cover, there’s one final clue to help out.

It’s wildly addictive and will take up 5-10 minutes of your day, every day. You can play it for free on any device – and it has a mobile app to download if you want.

Connections

We mentioned the NY Times, so here’s our current favourite game it provides: Connections.

Honestly, this can be a very frustrating game because some days it’s super hard. You’re given a grid with sixteen words and must fit them into four different groups. All the words within a group must relate to something similar.

As an example, today’s Connections had Arrow, Quiver, Bow and Target. These four words formed a group as “Archery Equipment”. You get four “mistakes” when guessing the groups, which is what makes it such a challenge.

This is a toilet or bus game for us; something you do when you have around ten minutes to kill.

Minecraft

It would be rude to talk about fun and simple online games without mentioning Minecraft. People think it’s just for kids, but Minecraft is for everyone. Sure, you can spend the whole time looking for the best Minecraft skins, or you can let the hours pass by as you dig for blocks and build different constructions.

The cool thing about Minecraft is how everyone can create their own experience. If you like being creative and building things, it’s like playing virtual Lego. Those of you who want more of an adventure can raid villages, fight skeletons or take a trip to the Nether.

With today’s devices, there are limitless options for play.

It’s not a free game, but it is available on every device imaginable – including phones and tablets. So, if you want a game that will fill your boredom for months (maybe even years) on end, this is a worthy investment.

Suika Game

We’ll end with a quick and easy game that started trending in 2023 and is now very popular. Suika Game can be played online from your PC or laptop and is completely free. It’s quite similar to other falling puzzle games – like Tetris – only fruits of various sizes fall from above. When the same fruit touches one another, they both explode.

The goal is to merge fruits and keep them under the red line. Your score goes up if you merge more fruits – and it multiplies when you manage to merge the biggest fruits. We may not have done a great job explaining this, but it’s pretty straightforward. Try it out for yourself and you’ll soon get the gist.

Banish boredom for good by trying these six fun and simple online games. They all require zero skill and can be played whenever you like, wherever you are.
