Hot on the heels of the upcoming Analogue 3D FPGA-based Nintendo 64 (N64)-compatible console with 4K output resolution, which is now releasing in August, comes news from ModRetro. Although we don’t have much information at the moment, ModRetro is now taking email addresses to lock in $200 early bird pricing for their own upcoming FPGA-based N64-compatible console, the M64.

ModRetro are the purveyors of the popular Chromatic, which is an FPGA-based Game Boy and Game Boy Color handheld. It’s nowhere near as full-featured as the Analogue Pocket, but it does offer a more authentic experience, as well as features excellent build quality. Perhaps the M64 will have similar pluses and minuses versus the Analogue 3D.
