Released in November 2025, the Maono PD200W, is an improved wireless update to the popular PD200X. The “W” designation means it adds a 2.4GHz wireless receiver to the standard USB and XLR connectivity, making it an ideal 3-in-1 microphone.

This is all about versatility, as being wireless makes it much easier to move than other microphones like the PD200X. I have a wired Logitech Yeti Blue on my desk that’s attached to a boom arm, and you can bet that there’s no way I can move that from where it is.

Anyway, let’s get to the PD200W. In the box is the microphone, desktop stand, a pigtail USB-C to USB-C cable with USB-A adapter, regular USB-C to USB-C cable with a USB-A adapter, USB-C 2.4Ghz wireless receiver, some rubber gaskets, and paperwork.

I’ll mention a few downsides first before I get to all of the positives.

The shock mount is plastic and feels a bit cheap, although I will say my Yeti Blue doesn’t even have one. There’s some wireless compression, so if you want the absolute best sound, you’ll still want to use the USB or XLR modes. The PD200W is a bit sensitive to bumps, so make sure not to tap the microphone or desktop. Finally, the outer ring of the shock mount was scuffed out of the box for some reason.

Now, the positives. The triple connectivity is a game-changer. It works over XLR, USB-C, and 2.4GHz wireless with the included dongle. The latter two work seamlessly with PC or mobile. In fact, I’m recording this now with the dongle attached to my Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is also recording the video. I made zero adjustments, so this is how it sounds out of the box, plug and play.

As I’m sure you can tell, even without any fiddling, it does a good job of making your voice sound better and more professional, which is no mean feat for me. It also does a decent job rejecting background noise, although you’ll still want to be careful in noisier environments, which I’m definitely in right now. I’m sure you can hear the Korean drama from the other room.

As another plus, you can connect two PD200W microphones to a single receiver for in-person interviews or co-hosted podcasts and videos.

The Maono Link software for Windows and Macintosh computers also works well for adjustments. Finally, there’s zero-latency monitoring from the built-in headphone jack, so you can hear yourself in real-time. This is especially good for gaming or live streaming.

You can find the PD200W on the company website, but you’ll want to go to Amazon. Right now, it’s 35% off for a limited time, so just $84.99 for the desktop version I have. If you want the boom arm version, that’s on sale for $104.96. Even without the discount, this is a genuine value for a surprisingly professional setup.

There are different kinds of broadband connections:

ADSL

Perhaps that’s why I like these Soul IMPACT OE WIRELESS headphones so much. With a price right around $100, they’re not too cheap where you know sacrifices had to be made in sound quality and construction, but also not priced too high where us mere financial mortals can’t afford them.

It’s handy and fits the headphones well.

Basic features of the IMPACT OE include:

For testing purposes, I first paired the IMPACT OE with my Windows 10 desktop PC, and then my iPhone 7 Plus. Pairing was straightforward, with the headphones showing up as SOUL IMPACT OE in the Bluetooth listing. Using Spotify’s maximum quality levels, music sounded great, with clear vocals and instrumentation, as well as a powerful, but not too overpowering, bass line. I then listened to audio podcasts, and the voices were perfectly clear.

The styling is classy.

One thing to note is that these are powerful headphones. What I mean by this is is that you can really crank the volume to ear splitting levels. Amazingly, the audio remains clear even at the “now you’re deaf” setting, but this power (these go to 11!) is something to keep in mind when letting younger ears listen.

In testing the microphone, callers said my voice was clear. In turn, I could hear them with excellent clarity.

Although the IMPACT OE may not win any awards for its somewhat conservative looks (something my middle-aged self who prefers professionalism frankly likes), it more than delivers when it comes to sound quality. About the only potential negatives I can levy against these headphones is that the sizing band tends to slide out of position after you remove them from your head and the heavily cushioned earpads are small and meant to go on top of your ears, rather than over. My personal preference is for the latter style, although these are so heavily padded that it definitely doesn’t bother me as much as it usually does.

Despite some niggling issues, if you want a premium, versatile Bluetooth wireless headset that doesn’t break the bank, you would do well investing in these headphones.

• Gets as loud as you could ever want and still pumps out clear audio
• Built-in microphone

• Earpads are sized to go on the ears rather than over, so that may or may not be a negative
• Sizing band does not lock in place

The IMPACT OE headphones deliver excellent Bluetooth performance with premium sound quality.

The package.

In the package you get the mouse itself, USB nano receiver, manual, small driver CD, and an extra set of bottom sliders if for some reason the ones already on the mouse wear out. On the underside of the mouse is a compartment for the single AA battery (not included) and a space to store the USB nano receiver when not in use.

What you get.

On the bottom of the mouse is a switch with a choice between On, Off, and Eco. The main difference between On and Eco outside of more aggressive power saving (remember to click the left mouse button to wake it up!) is that the former lights up the mouse, while the latter doesn’t. This is actually a nice option, as not all gaming mice let you turn off their lighting.

A look at the underside.

In usage, I found the mouse lightweight and smooth tracking. It slid effortlessly on my Razer Destructor mousepad. It was also quite comfortable, although, as usual for a mouse ergonomically aligned liked this, if you’re a lefty, this is not for you.

The software setup screen.

In terms of features and in testing the mouse on my Windows 10 desktop, it just worked right off the bat after plugging in the USB nano receiver. If you want the extra features the mouse supports, you’ll need to install the Windows-based software (Redragon Wireless Gaming Mouse 2645 Setup.exe) from the mini CD. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no other way to get the software, as the support site doesn’t yet seem to offer it.

Once installed, all of the features are unlocked.

Key features are as follows:

As you can see, with features like that, there’s little-to-nothing that you’d be lacking in choosing this mouse over one of its much higher-priced counterparts. For what this is being offered for on Amazon right now, you really can’t go wrong if you’re a Windows gamer or simply want a high performance, ergonomic mouse.

Although I was relatively critical in an earlier review of a similar device, the FKANT Gemini SE-6 Bluetooth Earbuds, that product turned out to be my daily driver at the gym. It’s still not perfect, with the occasional drop-out before quickly recovering, average-at-best sound quality, and fairly short battery life, but it has the great advantage of actually working, and at less than half the price of the D900S.

The box.

First impressions of the D900S are promising. The packaging is fairly slick and you get some nice extras like optional ear grips and a carrying case. It also has a charging storage case, which means that after wearing them and placing them in the case, they can be charged. Unfortunately, placing them in just the right way in the case to make the contacts meet is difficult, and the actual charging part is non-intuitive. It’s a good idea in theory, but not in execution, which pretty much describes this product as a whole.

What you get.

While the buds themselves are bulkier than the SE-6’s, that’s not necessarily that big of a deal, although it does tend to increase the risk of them falling out of your ears. What is a big deal is the fact that despite trying it across two different iPhones, one an iPhone 6 Plus, and another, an iPhone 7 Plus, the connection was completely inconsistent. Whether it lost sync between the two buds or with the phone itself, it was a constant, losing battle to maintain a signal.

The paperwork.

Even removing the variable of location and distance, it makes no difference. Whether at the gym, in the office, or right next to the phone, the connection was never stable. Combined with all of its other shortcomings, including its high relative price, there are simply no redeeming features. Avoid this!

Pluses:

• In theory, the product is a good overall concept

Negatives:

• Does not maintain a consistent connection
• Charging system is poor
• Bulky
• Expensive

It simply doesn’t work.

The FKANT Gemini Bluetooth Earbuds are completely wireless, to the point where they don’t even have a connecting wire between the two earpieces. This is the next big design trend in wireless earbuds, and the Geminis do a good job of minimizing the bulk in their design versus some other brands of this type I’ve tried.

The box.

This design acumen extends to how these fit. Using the default size of rubber ear-caps (two other sizes are included), each earpiece fit snugly in each of my relatively small ear canals and didn’t fall out. Although these aren’t noise isolating, the snug fit actual went a long way to achieving that effect, which was particularly handy at the gym where I’ve been torture testing these. Even under the most intense gym activities, I’ve rarely had to adjust these earpieces once I placed them in my ears at the beginning of my workouts. It goes without saying that they were quite comfortable as well; it’s certainly liberating not having the usual wire behind my head found on typical Bluetooth sport headsets.

What’s inside the box.

Setup is as straightforward as any other Bluetooth headset. Charge them and then pair with your device of choice. You then stick each earpiece in your ear (R and L are helpfully marked on the exterior) and power on each side. A helpful voice indicates when each side is successfully paired and in sync.

In terms of sync, on my Apple iPhone 6 Plus, I would occasionally lose sync between the two earpieces and sound would only come out of one earpiece. This usually rectified itself a few seconds later and again, only rarely happened.

The contents of the storage case.

As for the sound, it’s a bit hollow and thin sounding, but does better with music than it does with talk-heavy podcasts (which is generally what I listen to with these). It’s also a bit bass heavy for my tastes, although others may not think it’s quite enough based on some of the bass heavy headphones I’ve listened to. Of course, you may not want to take my advice on bass, as, particularly in my advanced 44-year-old state, I’m just not a fan in the way those darn kids today seem to be (picture me shaking my fist at the screen for effect). Phone calls sounded just fine, with no complaints on the other end of the call either.

For the price, these are really a great deal. They’re roughly half the cost of similar headsets, with the only real budgetary consideration I can find being in how it charges. A lot of these types of headsets have charger storage cases that the earbuds snap into. Instead, these come with a Y micro-USB cable.

Although the three hours plus of music time these earbuds provide after a full charge is competitive, the fact that you can’t charge them further from a charger storage case means that you will be charging these more frequently than some of the more expensive models. With that said, this design certainly makes carrying these around in their case a more compact affair, which is certainly one plus.

Pluses:

• Truly wireless
• Comfortable fit
• Snug in-ear with good natural noise isolation
• Good price and overall value
• Compact design that carries over to the storage case

Minuses:

• Somewhat thin sound that works better for music than talk-heavy audio like podcasts
• No charger storage case

The packaging for the 8Bitdo offerings.

The other offering, the SNES30 GamePad, is a Bluetooth wireless controller styled like the original SNES gamepad. Besides working with the Retro Receiver, it also functions as a Bluetooth joystick, Bluetooth keyboard, in iCade mode, in Emu-Touch Screen mode, in Wii remote mode, in RetroN 5 mode, and as a wired USB controller, with more functions promised. Those additional functions can be added via firmware updates, which is also possible on the Retro Receiver.

The contents.

In the attractive packaging for the SNES30 GamePad, you get the controller itself, standard USB cable to charge the built-in 480mAh Li-on battery, SNES 30th Anniversary keychain, and paperwork. The packaging for the Retro Receiver is simpler, coming in blister packaging, and includes the controller port dongle and a standard USB cable for connecting to a computer. The instructions are on the back of the packaging insert.

What you get with the Retro Receiver.

Although both devices offer a tremendous range of functionality, I primarily bought this for use with the amazing Retro Freak (which I reviewed back in 2015), which does not have a wireless option. To use an SNES (and other) controllers with the Retro Freak, you need the Retro Freak Controller Adapter, which comes with the Premium bundle, or is available for purchase separately.

Here’s how I got both the Retro Receiver and SNES30 GamePad to work on the Retro Freak:

1. I charged the controller.
2. I plugged the adapter into the controller adapter on the Retro Freak.
3. I turned the Retro Freak on.
4. I pressed the pair buttons on both the adapter and the controller.
5. I was almost immediately able to move around in the Retro Freak’s menu system.
6. I selected the standard SNES controller setup in each Retro Freak emulation system’s menu.
7. I started playing wirelessly like it was a normal SNES controller plugged into the controller port with a wire.

It really is remarkable how seamlessly it all works. While I like the SNES30 GamePad, it’s not quite as nice as the original SNES gamepad. There’s a bit more bounce to the d-pad, for instance. Overall, though, I have no significant complaints, particularly for a third party design. It’s definitely a controller I’ll make regular use of.

These 8Bitdo products offer a solution to the one real problem with the Retro Freak.

The Retro Receiver on the other hand is unequivocally extraordinary. It delivers the holy grail of classic gaming, bringing true wireless capability to legacy hardware (or hardware that uses legacy controller ports) with no perceptible lag and no fuss configuration. It just works, period. That’s why the Retro Receiver for SNES is receiving an Editor’s Choice award for 2016.

The box.

The V5C (<$14) has a similar basic shape to the V2C, but is a bit more ergonomic and features two additional side buttons and a DPI button, which switches between four resolutions/cursor speeds: 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2400. The nice thing about that feature is that there’s no extra software to install, so changes happen internally within the mouse at the literal press of that button.

What you get in the box.

Mouse movement is quick and silky smooth, as are the two main buttons, which have a short throw, or distance between registering a press. This mouse is indeed fairly silent, although there is a more audible click with the two side buttons and scroll wheel. While I’m reviewing the white model, the V5C is also available in black.

The dongle and included battery are found behind the rear cover.

In the box you get the mouse itself and a short quick start sheet. Behind the rear battery cover is the required USB nano dongle and AA battery. With the typical SROCKER power saving technology, you can expect months of use between battery changes. While testing took place on two different Windows 10 systems, since no special software is required, the USB dongle and mouse should also work on almost any other mouse-compatible platforms. The V5C is a good performer at a great price.
