2021 Home Technology Trends We Should All Know About

December 11, 2020 Posted by Jane Smith Editorial No Comments

It is normal for us to want to feel comfortable when at home. We are talking about a living space where you need to feel convenience and pleasure. Both of these can be maximized with the use of technology, which already affects every single aspect of our lives.

When thinking about 2021, only time will tell what new innovations will appear. What is a certainty is that home technology trends will soon become visible. We will highlight what we know now about some trends that are already materializing. These are the trends that will shape 2021 home technology and will influence new homes and renovations.

IoB – Internet of Behaviors

While everyone talks about IoT (Internet of Things), when it comes to home automation, we need to discuss IoB (Internet of Behaviors). IoB is what is used by organizations and brands to monitor data connected with behavioral events. Such technologies are already being used right now. The best examples we can highlight are facial recognition, location tracking, and big data. We see these technologies used by the government and private companies.

We see a clear example in the insurance companies that monitor fitness levels, shops that analyze buying habits, and car insurers that analyze specific demographics. With IoB inside our home, we see home living being transformed in some invisible ways. The data that is gathered is used to create better designs.

Hyper-Automated Kitchens

One of the biggest changes we see in homes is driven by smart technology. Hyper-automation is nowadays a huge trend, and it will keep being popular. We see smart tech used in everything inside the home, from hot water repairs Melbourne to automatically controlling room temperatures. However, where we see it the most is inside the kitchen.

Automation has the goal of simplifying your life and making it much easier to avoid manual actions and processes. People’s quality of life is improved when people do not have to waste time shopping or thinking about dietary requirements. The kitchen is smartly connected to the entire home and is capable of ordering what is needed. Basically, smart devices are connected with home technologies and make your life easier.

Home Security

Security and technology are directly connected. You normally want your property to be as secure and safe as it could be. More tech options will be soon available to guarantee exactly what you want. For instance, we can always use smart locks that are capable of monitoring security and you can easily use smart surveillance systems, which will automatically alert the police when an emergency happens.

Besides the physical home security aspect, which will 100% grow in the next year, we also have to mention online privacy problems. Many of the smart technologies rely on wireless technology, which is prone to hacking when not properly secured.

Final Thoughts

We cannot predict where we will be taken by technology in home automation. However, the technologies that we highlighted above will surely have a huge impact in 2021. What we do know is that there are countless startups that try to improve the experience of the homeowner and many of them will be successful since the focus is always put on comfort and security.

In the future, we expect most newly-built homes to be equipped with some sort of technology that uses smart devices, like your smartphone. We already see smart fridges and thermostats reaching a level of popularity that was not envisioned. The fact that you can now have the temperature in your home controlled through a smartphone app is the type of home automation improvement that is changing the way we live.
