Alternative Games to Enjoy

November 8, 2021 Posted by Jane Smith Editorial No Comments

While there’s so much to love about anchoring yourself in front of the Xbox or PlayStation for a day of gaming, it pays to mix things up occasionally.

And in this day and age, we’re truly spoiled for choice when it comes to finding ways of getting our gaming fix.

So, with this in mind, we introduce you to five alternatives to traditional video games that are equally as fun and fulfilling as a day spent on a first-person shooter.

Mobile Games

Traditionally, playing video games was something that was confined to the spare bedroom. After all, it was impossible to play the original PlayStation or Sega Dreamcast on the move.

But now, you can play games on a whole host of mobile devices, providing you with unlimited gaming possibilities on the move.

For your smartphones and tablets, you can sign up to the likes of Apple Arcade or Google Play and enjoy unlimited mobile gaming for a nominal monthly fee.

This is an excellent way of adding variety to your gaming schedule and means you don’t get stung with costly in-app purchases that often dominate (and ultimately tarnish) the mobile gaming industry.

Casino Games

When the first online casinos were launched, you were pretty much restricted to a few table games and a couple of generic slots (if you were lucky). But fast forward to the present day, and online casino gaming is remarkable in its appeal.

You can now enjoy all the table classics, including variations of blackjack, poker, and baccarat. What’s more, live dealer games make the online casino experience incredibly immersive, making it feel as if you’re actually in the casino when playing your hand.

The huge variety of online casino games is backed by a vast collection of themed slots that you can play for cents, providing you with hours of entertainment without having to break the bank. Discovering a user-friendly, varied, alternative gaming entertainment platform is key to getting the most out of your online casino gaming experience.

Traditional Arcade Games

In the eighties and nineties, arcade halls were immensely popular. Filled with classic arcade games like Pacman, Space Invaders, and Street Fighter, kids would lose hours to these fun-filled gaming halls as they tried to land the top scores.

And while arcade halls aren’t as prevalent as they once were, there are still entertainment venues in cities all around the world that provide gamers with the opportunity to indulge in a bit of old-school gaming!

Alternatively, you could always invest in a classic arcade gaming rig and set it up in the garage! The simplicity of classic arcade games is lost in the latest video game releases and is undoubtedly worth returning to occasionally.

Bingo

Bingo has long been a hugely popular game, enjoyed by people from the 1950s onwards.

And while bingo halls have been closing in some towns and cities, the online bingo industry is booming.

There is a huge range of online bingo providers you can sign up for to get your daily fix of 75-ball bingo, as well as some exciting variations on the traditional format of the game.

Lots of the most popular online bingo games are themed and based on popular culture, providing you with extra motivation to find your favorite!

And with interactive chat rooms and low-cost games at all times of the day and night, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try your hand at a bit of bingo once in a while.

Stock Market Trading

Okay, so this isn’t necessarily a game. But trading shares in the stock market is a super fun way to try something a little different while having the chance to make a decent return on your investment.

You could spend some time learning about how stocks and shares work – perhaps by watching online tutorials – before diving into an investment platform to buy some initial stock that you can play around with.

It stands to reason that you should set yourself a limit while you’re just starting out, but getting into stock market trading can be a productive way of spending some of your free time that you formerly spent in front of your home gaming rig.

Final thoughts

Few things are as satisfying as a stress-free day spent on the Xbox or PlayStation, and it’s an excellent way to relax and unwind after a long day at work. But to keep things interesting, consider trying one of the five alternatives introduced above, so you’re not always playing the same game on repeat.
