Retro Games Ltd, the maestros behind the plug-and-play THEC64 Mini and Maxi, The Spectrum, The 400 Mini, and more, are coming out with an improved full-sized variation of their popular THEA500 Mini. Known as THE A1200, pre-orders are expected to begin on November 10, 2025, with a launch date of June 16, 2026. The suggested retail price is £149.99 / €189.99 / $189.99 / AU$299.99.
For your money, you’ll get the Amiga 1200-shaped computer with full-size keyboard, authentic-style mouse, and gamepad. There are also 25 built-in games, including Beneath A Steel Sky, Settlers II, Lure of the Temptress, Ruff n Tumble, Defender of the Crown I & II, and the Turrican trilogy. Naturally, you can side-load your own games via one of the USB ports.
Modern conveniences include HDMI output and save states. It remains to be seen what other improvements there will be over THEA500 Mini, but Retro Games Ltd is promising that this will be their most powerful such device yet. It should be able to play all Amiga platform (OCS/ECS/AGA) games and software, including CDTV and CD32 content.

This is a welcome addition to the large Commodore Amiga ecosystem. As a fan from back in the day who still has plenty of original hardware and software, I can say it’s one of the harder platforms to maintain. A robust plug-and-play solution like this one should make it much easier for everyone interested to get into and enjoy.
