Casino Software and Mobile Casino – How does the Software Work?

May 21, 2018 Posted by Andrei Kuznetsov Editorial No comments

In the latest entry in our ongoing series on casino and gambling technology, we take a look at casino software and mobile casino offerings.

If you are a gamer, you might have noticed the cutting-edge technology today’s online casino companies use in order to be on track with the trends. All those 3D visuals, animated or virtual casino features, astonishing effects and sound systems simply blow your mind.

Now, have you ever wondered how do online casinos handle these constant technology advancements? How can they single-handedly manage to keep an eye on the casino improvements and innovations, let alone the technical stuff?

Well, their little secret is independent companies. The games, on one hand, are being developed by game-developing companies who licence their products to the online casino. Third-party software providers, on the other hand, are there to ensure the software part of the business. Many popular online casinos, if not all, outsource and permit the software provider to remotely take care of the software on their part and make sure there are no malfunctions, errors or bugs in the system.

The biggest part of coding for online games is done with C++ by expert software engineers and it is pretty complex and demanding. That’s why it is usually done by pro engineers and little work is left for programs like Construct or Unity to be done.

The more realistic, the better.

The more realistic, the better.

What’s really a key component, generally in online games, but especially for online casinos is the RNGs (Random Number Generators). This is a feature that guarantees 100% fair play and ensures absolute random selection of numbers/symbols on online casinos.

With the mobile gaming growing day by day, software developers now also need to optimise the games and make sure they work perfectly on any type of mobile device and platform. They also need to keep in mind that the games will be played on smaller screens, so they also need to configure the graphics. With the development of the markup language HTML5 for streaming within a web browser, doing all of the necessary modifications was made easier for software developers.

So, in order to be up-to-date with the technology, online casinos make great efforts and pay a lot of money to the third-party software providers such as Playtech and Microgaming. These, in turn, make sure that everything goes smoothly and perfectly. As the competition is piling up as we speak, these software providers are entitled to provide the best support, and to come up with better, new solutions to existing problems.

The VR (Virtual Reality) gaming only spices things up, for both the software providers and the users. Although their use is fairly limited, VR casinos will definitely become a thing shortly. Some have already experienced the thrill of choosing their avatars, almost-live speaking with other players on the table through a microphone, walking down the corridors and casino rooms and feeling like they’re in a real casino, but more immersed. Soon, all the equipment necessary for us to have this experience as well will become affordable and accessible to anyone in the gaming world.

The rise of smartphones - and ever-better mobile internet speeds – in that period has opened up great opportunities for gambling providers. Where you once had to make a special effort to go to what’s now known as a ‘land-based casino’ – and probably had to live in a big town or city or travel to one – the power of the smartphone has removed those physical barriers.
